I can’t say enough good things about Woodard Auto in Fredericksburg. The service is truly professional and top-notch. After several bad and expensive experiences at dealership repair shops, I finally found a shop I can trust and rely on for my Volvo XC90. Lori at the front office is a true professional—friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. She takes the time to answer all my questions about the repairs and costs and makes the whole process easy and transparent. Andy is an amazing technician who clearly takes pride in his work. He makes sure the job is done right, takes the time to diagnose the actual problem, and genuinely cares about resolving the issue rather than trying to upsell or take advantage of the customer. I had a check-engine light that had been on for almost two years. I took my Volvo to the dealer three times and spent around $1,800, but they never figured it out. I eventually gave up and assumed I would just have to live with it. When Andy asked me about it, I told him not to worry about it because the dealer had said it was a computer issue that couldn’t be fixed. Andy took it as a challenge. He diagnosed the problem and fixed it by replacing a part that cost only about $180—and the check-engine light is finally gone! I cannot thank Woodard Auto enough, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for an honest, professional, and trustworthy auto repair shop. If you have a Volvo, I especially recommend giving Andy and the team at Woodard Auto a try. You won’t regret it!

Excellent Service!! I finally found a Primary Care Mechanic (PCM) for my 2013 F150 that I can trust. They replaced my valve cover gaskets, brake booster vacuum pump, and a tune-up. My truck is running incredibly well after the services. The staff is very professional and knowledgeable. I highly recommend to all.

Not many places my area that I can trust to diagnose and repair my 2009 Volvo. I’ve wasted so much money at automotive shops that didn't know what they were doing. Now I drive all the way from Colonial Beach to Woodard just to have my oil changed. I also come here for all other minor and major repairs. I can trust them, they are always professional, courteous and they don’t price gouge.

I had a couple of concerns about my daughter's Rogue when I drove it last week so she took it to Woodard. They gave an honest assessment about the brakes, tires, AC and even a bad USB port but did not recommend any repairs at this time. That was welcome news. We'll be back when those repairs are needed!

Great service!! They fixed my car quickly and it’s running great! I was told I had to replace both struts on my car and when Woodard looked at my car they saw only one strut had to be replaced. Instead of just doing both, they replaced the one that was leaking and saved me money! Very good communication and easy overnight drop off!

Knowing we were from out of town and stranded they got us right in to look at the car. There are not enough stars on the scale to coincide with how elated I am with the level of service and overall satisfying experience I received on my first visit to Woodard! (This review is lengthy, but I wanted to show the huge difference between my experience with the dealer and Woodard Automotive.) I recently purchased a Certified Preowned (CPO) Land Rover (LR)... but had feelings of buyer's remorse -- especially after leaving Land Rover's service department. There was a rattling sound in my dashboard. After a 2-3 minute drive with a mechanic, and without popping the hood, LR told me that I would have to leave the vehicle because the "entire dashboard would have to be disassembled". The service adviser claimed that finding the cause of rattles is "tricky". He implied that it is so labor-intensive that it would take an unknown number of hours to "TRY to fix the problem..."; "there's no guarantee that it could be fixed...", and "the problem could even get worse... because you never know about rattles". (Imagine, purchasing a CPO vehicle, under warranty, but non-mechanical, non-electrical issues like "rattles" are not included in coverage.) As if their initial display of incompetence wasn't enough, the service adviser stopped me as I was getting into my vehicle and added - "...the other option is to wait until something worse happens in the dash... then Land Rover would cover it." I'm almost sure LR wouldn't take too kindly to that advice. (lol) And, why would he think I'd feel comfortable driving a vehicle that could potentially get worse, or leave me stranded somewhere -- primarily because I took the insane advice to ignore the rattle. (SMH) Their incompetence/fumbling blindly, hoping to get lucky and find the problem, would have cost me $246/hr. It took Woodard's owners, Andy, Lori, and a stethoscope (fondly called Dr. Andy) (smile) MINUTES to pinpoint the problem! I assume the mistake was probably made during the 165-point CPO inspection. (SMH) Needless to say, after leaving Woodard, I didn't even grant LR the courtesy of canceling my appointment. No call, no show is what they deserved. If Woodard accepts Land Rover's warranty and vice versa - I would breathe a sigh of relief, because I do NOT want to return to the dealer -- not even for repairs that are covered under the warranty. These days, it is virtually impossible to find a great master mechanic who can be trusted - in addition to a well-equipped facility to meet the demands of services needed to repair high-tech/late model vehicles. Woodard encompasses all of it! I thank God that I was led to Woodard's website. They are welcoming, personable, professional, and most of all competent and highly experienced! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!

I did not agree with them about the problem. So glad I took my car to Woodard. They found a service bulletin and correctly diagnosed my vehicles problem. They were polite, courteous and repaired my car in timely fashion. Will definitely return to them for any future repair work.

This auto shop saved our bacon! My husband and I were halfway into a 2 hour drive - towing a boat [in the rain with 2 dogs in the car]. When we stopped at Arbys, we noticed one of the trailer brakes had frozen up and was smoking! A 7-11 clerk and a tire shop finally directed us to Woodward. The shop owner immediately, jacked it up, analyzed the problem and made it safe to go back on the highway. He didn't charge for his effort and even refused a tip!! [...saying he does not normally work on trailers]. The world should have more people like this. Thank you - thank you - thank you!!!!

Took my 2011 F150 that I just bought in due to suspension noises and a rolling noise that sounded like it was coming from the bed. They found the hidden rolling noise, but couldn't find the suspension noise when they test drove it, so they inspected my suspension instead and confirmed it was still structurally safe despite any noises that may occur. Best part is, they didn't charge a dime because they said no real work was done! The honesty is hard to come by nowadays, would definitely recommend them to a friend.

Greatest repair shop in existence. (2 years ago) ( Can't remember what they did but I said they were the greatest shop in existence) that was already a year ago! This time!!! More of the same, super cool, that's all I can really say!!! I owed them extra for something.... When I was leaving I remembered, and I said, " oh yeah, hey I owe you some money!" Lori/ Laurie, looked at me on that nice Friday afternoon and said, " no, you're good, thank you!" Me: "are you sure?" .... Her:" yeah yeah, thank you!...... Made my day. That being said. One of the younger mechanics helped me and some strangers load a car on a trailer, I had to ask for numerous favors, jumper cables, jump box, extra body to steer, a jack, and more. Helped with all that...... And more!!!! Did so out of kindness..... Super cool people. Nice folks, great service, realistic pricing. Love them!!! 5/9/25

In traveling from Brooklyn NY to Greensboro, NC, my son & I found ourselves with car trouble on I-95. We found this shop after much research and reading reviews for mechanics in the area. Initially, we were towed to the nearby Honda dealer as they were the only auto shop opened at the time. They quoted me a price of $2200, and maybe even more once they opened my engine, to fix my car. They did not have the part, which gave me time to get a 2nd opinion on the next day (we had to spend the night in VA). Thank God for that. I did my research of mechanics in the area, and Woodard had the best reviews. This is what led me to them. Still optimistic as to the legitimacy of the reviews, as they were all great. Well, this is another GREAT review! I would give them 10 stars, but the max is 5. I found them to be very pleasant, trustworthy, and just the best auto shop I've ever had to use. Wish I could talk them into re-locating to NY. In my experience, when mechanics can't find anything wrong, they make up something, selling you stuff that does not fix your problem (the Honda dealer). If Woodard can't find a problem, they charge you nothing. I could not believe this as most mechanics charge you just to raise your hood. To Andy & Lori at Woodard, I say thank you so much for your great service and your honesty. To anyone who lives in the area or traveling through, and looking for a great & honest mechanic, I highly recommend Woodard Automotive in Fredericksburg, VA. And just so you know, Andy did find my problem. But because it was so small (won't go into those details, review would be too long), my cost at this shop was still $0.

First off, I'm always cautious about businesses with super high review ratings. However, I went with this establishment because it was the closest to me. I wasn't disappointed at all. Having your vehicle break down and needing repairs/maintenance can be stressful. Finding an honest and reasonable mechanic shop is another type of stress. Luckily, Woodard Automotive was an affordable and professional business. They got my car in quickly and out in no time. Always the receptionist was friendly and kept me up to date on the whole process. The only thing I didn't like was that they recommended an expensive tow truck company. Overall, great company.
